George Carlin died…

When I heard George Carlin died on Sunday my heart just dropped. You see, George Carlin was the first comedian to make me laugh out loud, really think about life, and shock me so much to alter my mentality on many things in life. I think I first heard of George when I was 15 or 16, I saw the HBO special ‘You’re all diseased’ and was in love with his style, his skill, and him. He pushed the boundaries so far that I was in such unfamiliar territory with his “There is no God” act in his special that I remember feeling that God WAS going to strike him.
I didn’t post about this sooner because I was actually grieving a bit. I’m sad I never had the opportunity to meet the man. There were always two people I wanted to do off the top of my head: George Carlin and Adam Duritz. I saw the Counting Crows live once for my birthday, and George I regret never having met or seen.
George has made me laugh a million times and I try to quote him as much as I can. He was a true pioneer and the single most influential comedian in my humble opinion. I grieved more about George than I have about other people I have met that had passed away. I guess I had more of a connection with George whom I never met. I will miss him.
