PC bragging rights worth $20,000+?

So I was thinking of building a PC for my home office and decided to visit Falcon Northwest to get an idea of what’s the latest in PC components as of late. I went on to configure a Mach V, their top desktop system, and noticed I could select from Budget Box, Bang for the Buck, and Bragging Rights.
So I proceed to click on Budget Box, just to get a hint of the “low-end” components. I notice the components aren’t bad and take notes, then I see the price of the system… $2533.50. I was shocked. How the hell is that a “Budget Box”? Up to a year or so ago that was a high-end system. So for a good laugh, I decided to click on Bragging Rights and my laugh quickly turned into a slap in the face.
The Bragging Rights system costs $20,776.64. That’s MORE than the starting MSRP of a 2008 Ford Mustang or Jeep Wrangler. Add to the fact that the “heart” of the Bragging Rights system is the same for ALL the systems, they all have the same motherboard. Granted, the $20k+ system have 4TB of HDD space and a bunch of stuff not worth the cost (flame exotic paint job and two blu-ray burners?). However it only has 4GB of RAM and no physics card?
Take it from me, you DON’T need this monster of a computer. This is overkill. There is no way anyone will be able to justify the cost of this computer to me. Especially when considering that no purchase in technology is an “investment” as all technology components quickly become replaced/obsolete. Trust me, I worked at Alienware for about a year (2001-2002) as a system assembler and integrator, have multiple computer certifications, and continually work on computers (though mostly in web design).
If you have some sense, get the Budget Box and maybe add some RAM and HDD. If your a hardcore gamer, maybe up the video card and add a physics card. If your REALLY “hardcore” just build it on your own. Tis all.
