Motion Detection Brings More Fun to Games?

I was playing my cousins PS3 last night. I was playing NBA 07 and Rainbow Six Vegas. Both pretty fun and was worth the time played but became quickly boring. Just seemed very monotonous to me. I also played the demo for some tennis game and Gran Turismo HD Concept. They too were fun, but they didn’t impact me much either.

Then I loaded Super Rub a Dub. At first I was pretty lost until I realized the motion detection on the SIXAXIS PS3 controller. IT WAS FUN! That game not only sucked me in, but it sucked my girlfriend in too (and that’s saying something). It reminded me how much gameplay matters over graphics.

Then this got my thinking. No wonder the Wii is selling so well. It’s pure FUN! So in the spirit of this motion detection goodness, is the Wii vs PS3 a good comparison? Not sure if it’s fair, but if judged in only motion sensing it might be.

I wouldn’t know which one to choose if it’s JUST for the motion detection. Probably the Wii. But knowing that the PS3 supports motion sensing AND will handle all the next-generation games AND is able to play blu-ray makes it worth the extra cash. Hopefully more games will be made that support this motion sensing.
