Dual Screen goodness..

While Tony debates himself over getting a PS3 or XBOX 360, I am looking to (maybe) get a Nintendo DS Lite. Let him deal with crazy HD Blu-Ray, HDMI, Bluetooth, and other cutting-edge tech nonsense. Truth be told, my budget is not compatible at all with that type of technology here in the com.ar land.

It’s like he’s talking about either getting a BMW M3 or an Audi S4, meanwhile I drive-by the street with my newly purchased Vespa. That been said, you can still have some good times on a Vespa, and Italian gals love the Vespa dude! (…). Note: Pic links included to make the analogy more meaningful if you are not a “car/motorbike person”.

My last handheld gaming experience was a Kiwi-colored Gameboy color bought at my nearest Toys “R” Us on US-1 close to the Metrorail station in the MIA. It was all part of a trade-in program for the old chunky grey original GameBoy. So I got me some Kiwi-colored gaming and Tetris 2 and that was that. Time has gone by and I miss some quality handheld gaming. I ended up selling my GameBoy and all the games to sum random little kid before I parted ways to the Butt-hole of the world. Now all I have is some stinking memories..

Since the GameBoy days, a whole lot has changed. Wi-fi, and 3D graphics are now an everyday thing for handheld gaming. Man I remember when I struggle to see the differences between Scorpion and Reptile in MK II on my greyscale screen. A whole lot has changed since those days, and I really would like to jump back into it..

So why the DS to join back on the portable gaming thing? For starters the whole dual screen thing really adds to the gaming experience. Let not forget the whole stylus/touch-screen deal, although at first many people saw it as a gimmick, most recent games really show some innovative game mechanics thru the whole touchscreen thing. The battery is miles ahead than what the current PSP can give. Nobody likes recharging in the middle of some heavy gaming..

Lastly and most importantly the games. It should come as no surprise that Nintendo’s own games are damn good. Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, and the upcoming Zelda game, are all must-play material. And as i previously said, many of the games available used the built-in Wi-Fi for online playing. Ok, so it may not be XBOX live, but for a handheld is more than enough.

So there you have it, while Tony deals with his next-gen console warfare (and gf), I stay put saving my “pesos” for a Black DS lite and Mario..
