China on the verge of having my foot up their ass.
PLEASE NOTE: This has NOTHING to do with the chinese people or nation as a whole. I know plenty of chinese people and they are all, well almost all, a pleasure to be around. This is particularly against corporations in china.
I was online today when I stumbled on an article of a poor woman whose feet have been chemically burned by some cheap sandals in Wal-Mart. You can find her story here. She has plenty of documents and pictures providing proof of the incident (by the way, no offense to Kerry, but she should have gotten a pedicure or something before those pics). Anyway, while there’s no 100% confirmation that this was indeed caused by those specific sandals, there have been more cases reported since regarding the same type of sandals bought from Wal-Mart.
First were the toxins found in the dog and cat food, you can read about it here. Then it was the toothpaste which was found to have some poison, you can read about that one over here. And lets not forget the deadly fish, which you can read about here. Now China is exporting chemically burning plastic.
Should we be worried? While I’m sure this isn’t some sort of conspiracy, this needs to be seriously looked at. Aren’t there some sort of guidelines, regulations, or standards in our accepting products from other nations and even our own country? Like FDA or FCC approval? Wal-Mart should also instill and/or enhance product safety. It may not be an easy or cheap process, but it will help reduce these problems and will help boost consumer confidence.
